Welcome to Purposeful Living Mondays! Where we change and grow your mindset! Hi, I’m Fitsavvy, the person behind fitsavvycoach.com. I hope you are having a fabulous morning and I bet after reading this you will have an amazing start to your week.
I know Monday sucks. Here at Purposeful Living, we are changing the sulkiness out of Monday one blog post at a time. Purposeful Mondays is about setting the tone for the beginning of your week. Why Mondays? Typically, Mondays are the day that everyone dreads. I am working to change that mindset from dreading to anticipating! In order, to change the ‘Monday sulk’ into a productive week you must fix your mindset.
The mind is a powerful thing. Changing the way, you think takes time, BUT IT IS DOABLE.
There was a time when I didn’t think positively. I had a hater-mindset by allowing things to happen to me. Self-loathing, playing the blame game, envious of others’ success, that was a dark time in my life. I learned I wasn’t a victim, but I also learned real growth happens when you CHOOSE to change yourself. I have been on my personal improvement journey for two years and this is what I have learned:
Table of Contents
1. You are not a victim*.
If you are over the age of 18, you have the power to choose. I know bad shit happens, but that is life. Your choices and reactions to bad circumstances are crucial. The ability to choose is not only free, but it is also powerful. When problems arise, you can either ‘act out of control’ by letting your emotions take you over the edge or you can choose to find solutions. Determine the cause and the common denominator of your problems and fix them. If the common denominator is you, don’t dwell on it too long. You can and you will improve.
Tip: Think before you react.
2. You must choose to change your mindset.
When it comes to fitness, people find something to motivate them. I tell my clients and members; your motivation center must come from you. If you are doing something for other people chances are you won’t stick with it! People let people down all the time, but it is something to be said when you let yourself down! Check in the mirror right now, that is the person you have to live with for the rest of your life. Do it for you!
3. Let go of things that weigh you down.
Lately, my mantra has been ‘let it go’. I have been practicing letting go of anything and everything that is weighing me down. I am letting go of things I don’t need such as my daily kombucha, and friends who don’t add value to my life. This could mean different things for you. What you want to do is get rid of things that don’t serve a purpose in your life. Whatever it is you must come to a fixed conclusion about it and let it go. Sometimes we think we need something or someone, but the truth is we don’t. As human beings, we need strong connections, not flakey ones.
4. It takes time
All things good take time to build. When I was in a dark place, I used to ask myself and ask God, “how much longer do I have to endure?” I wanted my growth to come faster and when it didn’t, I became frustrated. I realized things take time and if it is taking longer than what you think it should reach out for resources.
I hope this blog post helps you realize you can have good Mondays and can have a good week.
*When it comes to the “you are not a victim” I understand that when it comes to violence, abuse, neglect, you are a victim.*
