DIY- Hair Growth Oil that Works Wonders on Your Mane

*Dry hair in the fall? Try this hair growth oil recipe that will stop breakage and promote a healthy scalp*

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, but Fall has always been disastrous on my hair! I have kinky-curly hair! My hair isn’t thick, but it is very fine. I would say my hair type is a cross between 4a/4b.

Finding the best hair products for my kinky-curly hair took me some time, but once I found the right stuff, I fell in love!

My hair loves oil!!!! It soaks it right up. My hair oil of choice is avocado and coconut oil. They both penetrate the hair shaft, decreasing frizz, and eliminate breakage.

People with my hair type can experience dryness! During the colder months, our hair gets tougher, drier, and our scalp gets flakier. The right hair oil will help stimulate growth and keep your hair healthy and strong.

Unfortunately, store-bought hair oil can cost you an arm and a leg! I don’t have that kind of money! So I decided to make a hair ‘growth’ oil myself!

This 3- ingredient hair growth oil is made with:

Organic cold-pressed Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is a game-changer! I get mine from Trader Joe’s and store it in the fridge. I love this oil because it seals the hair cuticle and protects your hair from damage and protects the scalp from flaking. You can use this oil as is. I chose to add this oil to my hair growth oil recipe. In this recipe, the avocado oil is the bulk of the ingredients list.  Trust me, if you have kinky or curly hair you will love this stuff better than coconut oil. A little goes a long way!

Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil

It is fall so why not use this oil?

Recently, I read that pumpkin seed oil can cause hair growth. Of course, more evidence is needed to come up with a definite conclusion. However, I have also seen pumpkin seed oil in many hair growth oil serums and products.

Plus there are many Youtubers that have used pumpkin seed oil for hair growth and they have reported that it works!

Fresh Rosemary leaves (plucked)

I could have bought rosemary essential oil, but essential oils cause me to break out. I have very sensitive skin, so I knew that this wouldn’t work for me.

My sister suggested that I use fresh rosemary leaves and leave them in the oil! If you aren’t allergic to essential oils, I would suggest you use it in this hair growth oil recipe. Rosemary essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties and it has been shown to promote hair growth and a healthy scalp.

Fitsavvys tip: If using an essential oil, do a test patch first! Always use essential oils with a carrier oil such as olive, castor, or jojoba oil. Per 8oz bottle, use 3-5 drops!

Measurements:

  • 2 tablespoon of organic pumpkin seed oil
  • 8 tablespoon of avocado oil
  • 15 fresh rosemary leaves

Directions:

Place all ingredients in an 8oz bottle. Store in a cool dry place or in the fridge.  Keeps for 30 days. If you store in the refrigerator it will last longer!

For scalp-

Use a dime-sized amount  2-4x a week on any problem errors on the scalp. Rub it in a circular motion.

For dry hair-

Use a quarter size amount on the hair you can leave it in or choose to wash it out after sitting for 15-20 minutes

For hair treatment-
